12 Beauty Treats for Summer 2011

So many simple beauty pleasures, only one summer. What's a girl to do? Enjoy the treats on this list. Repeat!
#1 Try colored liner
Admit it: When you see colored liner on other girls you admire it, but you chicken out at the store. If you try one trend this summer, please let it be green, purple or blue liner; try L'Oreal Paris Pencil Perfect Self-Advancing Eyeliner in Paris Blue. A single swipe on the inner rim of your bottom lash line is an especially lazy way (hey, it's summer!) to look fun and flirty.
#2 Bronze your legs
When the sunless tanner routine feels like too much work, The Body Shop Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil is a godsend. Drizzle the lightweight oil on shower-damp legs and work it in like a moisturizer. What's left behind is a bronzey, shimmery glow and a honey-sweet (but not cloying) scent.
#3 Pick up a big, floppy hat
A big, wide-brimmed hat is one of the best ways to protect your face from damaging rays—and up your chic factor.
#4 Turn your beach day into a salon day
Before hitting the sand, mist Kerastase Soleil Huile Celeste through hair and don't give it another thought. The nourishing macadamia oil formula protects strands from UV rays and deposits a barely-there shimmer.
#5 Spritz on summer
If you're not a huge fragrance person, it's OK (ignore the gasps echoing from Every Other Woman On Earth). Marc Jacobs Splash collection is a trio of blue Curaco, mellow yellow Ginger, and pinky Cranberry eau de toilettes that, when layered, give off a refreshing fruity-herbal aroma.
#6. Have a brush with greatness
Give your scalp a feel-good massage by running a boar bristle brush through strands before showering. It not only feels like heaven (even better, get your S.O. to do the deed), but it also helps to loosen dead skin cells and distribute the scalp's natural oils.
#7 Soothe your soles
Let's not get into what happens to your ever-sandaled feet in the summer. Instead, let's focus on pampering them. Crabtree & Evelyn just launched a foot therapy line, and from the effervescent soak to the luxurious lotion, you'll be head over (softened) heels.
#8 Get sunny nails
So what if it's cloudy with a chance of rain? Channel the sun with a punchy orange polish like Essie's Meet Me at Sunset on short, rounded nails.
#9 Chill out your skin
Fill a spritzer bottle with water and a few slices of lemon and stash it in the fridge; spray it all over for an instant refresher.  While you're at it, stash your moisturizer in there, too.
#10 Get naked (on your face)
In the summer, foundation can slip off before you even board the train to work. Layer SkinCeuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense SPF 50—a sunscreen that evens out your natural skin tone—with a dusting of bronzer. Sun protection that's pretty: We'll take that.
#11 Try the latest in beauty tech
While you're sipping mojitos and cranking Adele, beauty companies are unleashing some pretty major technology. Coppertone's Oil Free Foaming Sunscreen Lotion SPF 75+ stands up to unexpected gusts of wind during application, unlike other spray-on formulas. For lipstick wimps, YSL Volupté Sheer Candy is an amazingly glossy lip balm that goes on silky and leaves lips color-kissed.
#12 Lighten up
Real highlights—like the ones you'd get if you relocated to Hawaii—are hard to come by. An alternative: a lightening spray like Sun-In (yep, it still exists!). Mist  onto random strands for the most natural effect, then lock in color with a dryer.Continue using throughout the season to lengthen your imaginary vacation.
