2012′s Best Beauty Product Launches
From innovative skin care that took multitasking to a whole new level to the genius brand behind the magnetic manicure to perhaps the sexiest lip formula ever created, products moved the beauty bar this year. As December winds down, we’re celebrating the bounty by taking a look back at the top 10 best launches. Here is the crème de la crème of what hit the shelves in 2012.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain ($32) is created for the modern-day woman who craves a long-lasting gloss with intensely rich pigment. This covetable, revolutionary stain is light in texture and offers a precise glossy application. Two coats gets the job done with ultimate staying power.

The best part? The products in the range are not greasy or sticky, making them great for daily wear.
Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation ($62) is unlike any other foundation on the market. Instead of using water and fillers to create a masking effect, this outside-of-the-box formula is made up of five good-for-your-skin oils that don’t feel or look greasy and last all day long thanks to a time-release technology. Trust us. A little bit goes a long way and you’re left with a luminous glow sans imperfections.
Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector ($12.99) was one of the first beauty balms to launch in the States earlier this year, beginning the explosion of BB creams here. This multitasking all-star has an SPF of 15 and helps to even out, brighten and moisturize the skin. The lightweight formula offers more coverage than expected and leaves you with a dewy glow.
NARS Andy Warhol Pop Collection ($18-$200) embraces François Nars’s love and appreciation for the iconic works of Andy Warhol. Influenced by Pop Art, Nars launched the color collection to coincide with the Warhol exhibit opening at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. Full of bright colors and graphics, this collection is not to be missed.
Nails Inc. London Wave Magnetic Nail Polish ($16) joined us Stateside from London in the very beginning of the year and upped the ante for the texturized nail art craze. The innovative formula made DIY nail art easy by adding magnetic particles into the polish that react to the magnet in the top of the wand. Genius! Ever since, many nail companies have replicated the technology.
Tom Ford Noir ($90-$125) is one of the sexiest scents a man can spritz. Proving Ford is in touch with his feminine side, Noir layers floral notes like violet flower and Bulgarian rose over more masculine spicy notes, such as black pepper oil and patchouli oil. The blend is intriguing, making it one to remember.
Lancôme La Vie Est Belle ($55-$95) means “life is beautiful.” The Oriental fragrance captures the essence of a woman—her strength, femininity, complexity and elegance. It’s no wonder, then, the brand enlisted A-lister Julia Roberts to be the face of its first fragrance in years.
Avon Anew Clinical Pro Line Eraser ($39.99) had a waiting list of 60,000 women long before it even launched. Why? Because Avon promoted its new breakthrough ingredient that improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles across the country through flash mobs and enlisted Karina Smirnoff to help take it just a bit further. Beyond all of the hype, it works!
Clear Scalp & Hair Therapy ($10.75 for shampoo and conditioner) rang in 2012 with spokesperson Heidi Klum and quickly changed the way people spoke about dandruff by glamourizing the term “feed scalp.” After all, good hair does start with a good foundation! The line of shampoos and conditioners not only get the healthy-hair job done, but smells incredible, too.
