3 Easy Ways to Get Volume in 5 Minutes or Less

For those of us who have fine, straight, delicate hair but not a lot of time, figuring out products and styling techniques that can quickly infuse volume into strands can prove to be a Herculean task. Starting to feel like nothing works? Don't worry—TRESemmé Stylist Jeanie Syfu is on it! She provides three quick and easy ways to achieve the volume you deserve in five minutes or less.

#1 Use a dry shampoo

Syfu likes the TRESemmé Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo, and recommends applying "in short bursts, about 10 inches away, taking 1-2 inch sections through the top of the head. Make sure to let the powder settle in a bit, then brush through."

#2 Velcro rollers

"This will give your blow dry that extra oomph!" Syfu explains. "Use Velcro rollers (the rollers with the metal base work great) through the top of your head. The sections should be the same size as your roller—it should only take about 3-4. Lightly spray with hairspray, then heat the rollers with your blow dryer and a diffuser on high heat. Once the sections have cooled, remove and finger through."

#3 Flip it upside down

"Oldest trick in the book, but it works!" exclaims Syfu. "Flip [hair] upside down and brush through using a boar bristle brush (it breaks down the oils and dirt out of the hair) and apply a light working aerosol hair spray throughout. The spray will give your hair hold and also absorb the loosened oils. Flip upright and shake through with fingers." Got another "volume in a jiffy" tip? Share it with us! Photo credit: Getty Images
