3 Spring Beauty Trends to Try Today

spring beauty trend Bright pants, color-blocking and floral prints have taken the streets by storm, but we shouldn’t let our clothes have all the fun! Here are my favorite spring beauty trends that are both attention grabbing and wearable. #1 Pastel nails I’ve always argued that pale colors “just don’t work with my skin tone.” What I meant to say is that I’d never tried and didn’t want to step out of my comfort zone—red is wearable year-round, right? This year, however, I decided to get my feet wet (well, my hands, really) and dabble with pastels. Despite my previous belief, it turns out light colors actually brighten pale skin, and dare I say, even make you look tanner. Not ready to take the full plunge? Start slow by gradually wearing lighter shades until you hit the pastel range. Fave hues: Essie Nail Polish in playdate and mint candy apple and OPI Nail Lacquer in Fiercely Fiona #2 Bright lips Ok, so this may not be a new trend, but it’s certainly one worth continuing. (And who doesn’t love an excuse to buy more lipstick?) Standout lips may have warmed up the winter, but new shades of violet, hot pink and flame red are as common in spring as the beds of tulips popping up on the streets of NYC. Too shy for a matte shade? Try a tint topped with gloss. Ready to get noticed? Throw on your signature shade and wear it work—it’ll brighten your day (literally). Fave hues: NARS Semi Matte Lipstick in Heat Wave, Lancome Rouge in Love lipcolor in Midnight Rose, and L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss in Plum Rush #3 Colorful eyeliner A fun, yet subtle way to throw some color into your look is to use colorful eyeliner. You can do anything from a thick line of color (on top and/or bottom) to blending a vibrant shade with black or brown liner, to simply sticking to the outer corners of your eyes. I like to play around with all three looks, adding bigger pops of color when I’m wearing neutrals, and toning it down when I have colorful pieces on as well. Don’t have any colors on hand? Use an eyeliner brush and your favorite eyeshadow to create the same effect. For a prominent line, get your makeup brush wet before applying. Fave hues: MAC Technakohl Liner in Smoothblue, Maybelline Eyestudio Masterdrama Cream Pencil in Vibrant Violet, and MAKE UP FOREVER eyeliner in Pistachio What spring trend are you sporting today?
