3 Steps to Perfecting the Winged Eyeliner Look

First spotted backstage during New York Fashion Week at Tagliapietra, Altuzarra, Zac Posen and Corey Lynn Calter, the winged liner look was an immediate hit. We spoke with Celebrity Makeup Artist Mary Phillips to get the scoop on how to take the look from the catwalk to the sidewalk.
Step #1 Rim the lid
Using liquid liner, draw a line from the inner corner of your upper lid to the outer, making it thicker as you go (by adding ever-so-slight pressure).
Step #2 Create the illusion of lift
Place your liner at the outer corner of your eye where your bottom rim ends and use that as the starting point for your "flick."  You can extend it out as far as you'd like—the shorter and thinner the more delicate it looks.
Step #3 Pull it all together
If you’re doing heavy shadow, make sure to keep your lip neutral. However, you can also wear this look with a clean eye and pop of color on your lips.
P.S. Remember that practice-practice-and-more-practice makes perfect!
