Beauty DIY: Acne-Treating Facial Mask

As far as acne treatments go, it's easy to spend a fortune. After all, there are usually dermatologists to visit, prescriptions to refill and pricey multi-step systems to test. But sometimes there really are solutions that are both frugal and easy. In this installment of do-it-yourself beauty, we've whipped up a recipe for a facial mask that will eradicate acne especially for those with oily, breakout-prone skin. And the best part is you probably already have all the ingredients in your kitchen cupboard.
When it comes to winning the war on acne and oil, oatmeal is the way to go. That's because it has anti-inflammatory properties, cleansing agents and exfoliating benefits. Here's how you can banish blemishes with a box of Quaker Oats.
You will need:
  • 5 drops of almond oil (for scent and moisture)
  • The juice of ½ a lemon (to brighten the skin)
  • 1 egg white (to tighten the skin)
  • 1 tablespoon of oatmeal
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons of water
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, adding just enough water to make a thick paste. Apply the mask to the skin, and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with tepid water, and then hydrate with your facial moisturizer of choice for smooth and radiant skin.
