Anthony The Perfect Shave

  1. Before you begin to shave, check the way your beard hairs grow. The general rule is to shave in the direction of the beard growth. Usually the beard grows downward toward your neck and upwards from the base of your neck. Either shave in the shower or use a warm towel to help soften the beard.

  2. Starting with a clean face is paramount to getting a close shave. Apply Glycolic Facial Cleanser or Algae Facial Cleanser to an already warm damp skin. Always use warm water as it helps soften the beard and prepares the skin for shaving. Hot water may dehydrate your skin so be sure to use warm water. Both Cleansers buff away dirt and oil which allows your razor to glide more easily against the skin. Rinse off with warm water and leave wet.

  3. Next, apply a thin layer of the Pre-Shave Oil to help soften the beard and add more glide to the razor. The Shave Cream or Shave Gel is applied over the oil in an even thin layer. Make sure you replace your razor after three or four uses. If you have a heavier beard change your razor more frequently.

  4. Throughout your shave use your free hand to keep your skin taut and as flat as possible. This will help you avoid cuts and nicks and give you an even closer shave. Use short strokes starting at the side burns, cheeks and neck. Finish with your lip and chin so the shave cream or gel can soften these heavier whiskers.

  5. Frequently rinse your razor under warm water to remove product build up and hair. This keeps the blade sharp and clean throughout the shave.

  6. Rinse your face with cool water and gently pat your face dry. Do not rub.

  7. Finish your shave by applying After Shave Balm or Razor Burn Repair to help keep your skin soft and hydrated. Soothes and calms razor burn.

Do's & Don'ts

Alcohol
Alcohol can dehydrate the skin and impede circulation, thus robbing the skin of precious moisture and vital nutrients. It can lead to broken or distended capillaries, especially over the nose and cheeks. It also depletes the body of vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy complexion. Recent studies have shown that women are more susceptible to the ill effects of alcohol than men.

Exercise
People who are physically fit look good and feel good. A regular exercise program will help to lengthen your life, improve your appearance, build your self-confidence, reshape your figure and delay the aging process. Exercise also benefits the skin by helping to maintain a clear circulation, calming the nerves and promoting a deeper, more revitalizing sleep.

Nutrition
Eating a varied diet rich in whole, natural foods, balanced in protein, fats and carbohydrates; and void of chemicals, adulteration and refinement is something that will allow you to realize your potential as a physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual being. Certainly the health and beauty of your skin depends on it.

Rest
People are constantly on the go, but also constantly encouraged to be physically fit. However, it is rarely mentioned that to balance our busy active days, we also need enough rest and sleep. The skin will mirror a well rested body with vitality and a healthy glow.

Smoking
Cigarette smoking robs the skin of its vitality and potential for being smooth and attractive. The skin suffers from the deteriorative effects of carbon monoxide and nicotine in the circulatory system, depriving the skin tissue of much needed oxygen and vital nutrients. People who smoke have a depleted, pallid complexion and skin that wrinkles prematurely.

Water
Water is essential for the hydration of the skin to keep it moist, soft, supple and clear. Loss of moisture from the skin is one main cause of wrinkles. The average person needs six to eight glasses of clean, pure water each day. Hot weather and exercising require an increase in the amount of water needed. (Soda, tea, coffee, juice and alcohol can not substitute for water.) Water is a natural appetite suppressant. Water rids the body of waste materials.
