She Nailed It: The Argyle Manicure

Canadian college student and Kelsie's Nail Files blogger, Kelsie Rogers, found inspiration in her socks for this perfect-for-fall manicure. Here's how to create the look.
What you need:
  • Base coat. Try: OPI Original Nail Envy Nail Strengthener.
  • Black nail polish. Try: YSL La Laque Couture in N 27 Noir Primitif.
  • Top coat. Try: INM Out the Door America's #1 Super Fast Drying Top Coat for Nails.
  • Scotch tape.
  • Pink nail polish. Try: Essie Nail Polish in Tart Deco.
  • Silver glitter polish. Try: Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquer in Give Me the 1st Dance.
  • White nail polish. Try: L.A. Colors Art Deco Nail Art in White.
How to do it:
Step 1: Apply the base coat.
Step 2: Swipe on one coat of the black nail polish.
Step 3: Apply one layer of the top coat and let your nails dry for about five minutes. Tip: "The INM Out the Door top coat can dry in seconds," Rogers says. "It works excellently between layers of a tape manicure."
Step 4: Create a triangle shape using tape at the base of your nails. Fill in the triangle with one coat of the pink polish on all but your ring fingernails.
Step 5: Fill in the taped triangle on your ring fingernails with one coat of the silver glitter polish.
Step 6: Apply a second layer of the top coat and remove the tape. Wait another five minutes for the polish to dry.
Step 7: Create a second triangle shape using tape at the top of your nails. The shape should meet the tip of the first triangle. Fill in that triangle on all of your nails, except your ring fingernails, with a coat of silver polish.
Step 8: Fill in the top triangle on your ring fingernails with a coat of the pink polish.
Step 9: Apply another layer of the top coat. Then remove the tape and wait another five minutes for the polish to dry.
Step 10: Using the white nail polish, paint two X's over your nails. Tip: "I did one line at a time and moved fairly quickly to get the lines straight," Rogers says. "If I go too slowly, I find my hand trembles and the line goes squiggly."
Step 11: Let the design dry for 10 minutes before finishing with a final layer of the top coat.
Will you try this preppy manicure?
