Even models (as genetically gifted as they may be) have to work hard at staying gorgeous. Elettra Wiedemann Rossellini, daughter of Isabella Rossellini and face of Lancôme, is one of those models. We sat down with the beauty during the Fashion Week opening of her environmentally-conscious GOODNESS Pop Up Restaurant and picked her brain on how she stays runway-ready.
Q: As a supermodel, you’re always running up and down the catwalk during Fashion Week. How do you do it without looking like a zombie?
A: Drink water until you’re sick of [it] because that will really help your skin look luminous. Other than that, I use Lancôme bronzer, which helps your skin revitalize very fast if you’re looking a little pale. I put loads of moisturizing cream [on] when I go bed because it really helps your skin stay plump. I mean loads. Sometimes I use both a serum and a cream and I wait until they dry out and I apply the cream again and go to bed.
Q: Is it safe to say that your beauty regimen is more intense during Fashion Week?
A: Yes! Anyone who doesn’t know me would think that I am a very vain person, but I’m actually not! It’s just that I have to look good this week specifically, so I do spend a lot of time preening and wearing masks, making sure my skin is as good as it can be. And of course eating well which is what GOODNESS is here for.
Q: Yes, GOODNESS is a great concept: what inspired you to create a pop up restaurant during Fashion Week?
A: I felt like we had come to a point in our industry where we had just kind of become machines and ceased to take a time out for even a half hour to eat a good meal and to have a moment to ourselves. It’s not about being unproductive, but actually to enhance your productivity. I created GOODNESS as an environment where people could come, take a break, have a coffee, have a great meal, and then go back out feeling rejuvenated because they have some healthy food in their system.
Q: What’s in your makeup bag? What can’t you live without?
Right now, I’m carrying the new Lancôme lipsticks –the Rouge in Love—they’re beautiful and very sheer. And I always have the Definicils mascara, and the Teint Idole foundation. And of course, lots of moisturizing cream!

Other models we met during the shows echoed some similar tips to those of Elletra’s, and then some.
At the VPL show, model Lisa Winklerr admitted that she was hooked on raw coconut oil by RNS Rosemary Swift for just about everything from taking off makeup to her hair, dry spots and her lips. “I take extra care of my skin and hair during Fashion Week,” she says, “especially since my hair is so bleached.”
At Porter Grey, model Snow who has done shows all over the world says that it’s absolutely imperative to “remove your makeup each time after the shows.” At night before you go to sleep, apply lots of moisturizer on your skin and hair so in the morning you wake up looking fresh and rested.
