Winged eyeliner has been basking in the beauty spotlight for many seasons now; however, this season the statement-lined eye is getting more attention than ever! From the Spring 2013 runways of Miu Miu and Giorgio Armani to BCBG and Dolce & Gabbana, flirty lined eyes have made a major comeback in the makeup world.

When done correctly, winged liner can create the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes and bigger eyes in an instant. Plus it’s the epitome of chic when paired with a red lip… Luckily for those of us who do not spend our days strutting down the catwalk, this look easily translates to everyday life, which is why we are going to teach you how to get the look in 30 seconds or less. So without further ado…

Quick Tips

  • Pick the right product. When creating a clean line for a winged cat eye look, experts suggest using a liquid or gel liner. We used a felt-tip version by Yves Saint Laurent called the Eyeliner Effect Faux Cils, however if you prefer to work with gels, Lancôme Liner Design Long Wear Calligraphy Gel Eyeliner is an excellent choice. We also really love Maybelline's new Eye Studio Master Duo—it has a duel tip for either a thick or thin effect.
  • Eyes on the prize. Be sure to keep your gaze looking straight ahead while you apply the liner to ensure both sides are an even canvas.
  • Whoops! If you mess up, don’t fret! Simply moisten a pointy cotton swab in makeup remover and fix the mistake. Before you reapply, be sure to dust a bit of translucent powder over the area.

And there you have it. Simple as 1-2-3!

If you’re feeling especially daring, try this look using an emerald color to really make your eyes pop.

I love wearing winged liner! It makes my eyes look so open and big… One thing that makes it easier is if you use a piece of tape at the corner to make the perfect flick :) http://www.thebellebeautyblog.blogspot.com
