hi melanie -this is a very common problem!have you tried eyeshadow primer or even a heavy concealer (not a fluid illuminator or brightener but a total coverage cream) on the lids? i would advise that as a first potential solution. another tip is to save the heavier and more expensive eye creams for night. by day use something lighter because the eye cream plus the natural oils on your eyelid aren’t giving the shadow anything to grip. you can also try blotting the eye with a dry makeup sponge or blotting linen to remove any excess oil, then powder the eye in a transparent or fleshtone shade before applying color shadow. when you are finished with the eyes, there are also finishing and set sprays and powders you can test to lock in the color and placement.as a general rule, i would also invest in items that are labeled as longwear, waterproof, smudgeproof, creaseless, all-day, etc.good luck!lauren

soooo, if you have combination eyes or eyes that change color based on what you wear, use the tips for the color you’d like to pop in your eyes. i.e. if you want play up your green, use the makeup shades for green eyes. want more blue, use those shades. and grey eyes are ususally a blue grey so go with the blue shade recos above.
and yes yes yes, if you have green eyes – purples, pinks and plums with red undertones will look AMAZING and really pop the green. blue-eyed girls that have bright blue eyes should also look for peaches with red under-tones to pop their eyes.

I have blue and green eyes with a ring of gold at the center. The best shadow palette I’ve ever used (and is a constant in my makeup bag) is L’Oreal Wear Infinite Studio Secrets in 821 Neutral. It really is fantastic how naturally glamourous it makes you. You can’t really tell you’re wearing makeup, but you CAN tell that there’s something beautiful going on up there.

Yellowish and hazel eyes are really variations of green eyes, for example my eyes tend to change from green to yellow, depending on the light. Anyhow, like 100fruitjuice has said, depending on what color shade you want in your eyes to pop, you should try different combinations. Even though, I don’t think these combinations are ALWAYS the correct ones, because sometimes unexpected combinations give the best results.
