How to Avoid Chapped Lips This Winter

The unavoidable chapped lips always come out to play once winter weather appears. Fortunately for you, healing and treating this common beauty ailment is quite simple. Here’s what to do to AVOID chapped lips altogether and keep them plump and pouty throughout the winter.

chapped lips
1. Don’t Pick!

Bad, bad beauty habit. Picking your lips not only leaves you susceptible to germs and possible infection, but it’s just not pretty!

2. Treat Them

Prevention is key here. Exfoliate your lips regularly (just as you would your face and body), then coat them with a soothing treatment balm to repair and stop future chapping in its tracks!

Product Recommendations: La Roche-Posay Nutritic Lips, Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue, SkinCeuticals Antioxidant Lip Repair, The Body Shop Lip Scuff

3. Hydration, Hydration, Hydration

Regularly condition your pout with comfort-restoring ingredients such as aloe and shea butter for ultimate relief from dry and harsh winter winds!

Product Recommendations: The Body Shop Aloe Vera Lip Care, La Roche Posay Ceralip, Kiehl’s Eucalyptus Lip Relief, NYX Butter Lip Balm

4. Sun Protection

Your lips are no different than the rest of your body when it comes to the need for sun protection — in fact, your lips are much more susceptible to sun damage than other areas. Be sure to apply a hydrating lip care treatment with SPF and healing vitamins every few hours while outdoors.

Product Recommendations: The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care Stick SPF 15, COOLA Liplux SPF 15 Peppermint Vanilla, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15
