Backstage at BCBG: Fresh-Faced Innocence

Friday's BCBG Max Azria show was an exercise in restraint—at least when it came to the makeup. Charlotte Willer, Maybelline New York's global makeup artist, was inspired by the kind of low maintenance girl we all wish we could be. "You know the type who barely wears any makeup yet still looks incredibly radiant? That's the look we're going for here this morning," she said in the jam-packed backstage area that jolted everyone awake despite the early A.M. call time. Of course, even models need a little extra help to look luminous that early in the day, so Charlotte created a fresh, natural-looking sheen using Maybelline New York products. For a glistening touch on the eyes, Charlotte brushed the shimmery champagne shadow from the Eye Studio Silk Eyeshadow quad in Green With Envy along the lids up to the brows— "The translucent shimmer reads as highlight rather than full-on color," she said—and skipped liner and mascara to keep the look innocent. She amped up the brows with Define-A-Brow Pencil and dusted Mineral Power Illuminator in Pink along the cheeks. To create healthy-looking lips, Charlotte relied on Color Sensational Lipstain in In The Buff, a pinky-nude color, topped with Kiehl's clear lip balm for shine. Paired with the simple low ponytail created by hairstylist Neil Moodie, the finished look was about as youthful and effortless as it gets.
