I don’t know about you, but I have the most fun putting makeup on my eyes. It is truly incredible what you can do with shadow and liner. Change the colors or design and, bam, you are nearly a different woman. I happen to have quite big eyes so I often try to make them even more dramatic with various techniques.
Last week I was getting my makeup done for a photo shoot and wound up in a long conversation with my makeup artist about how she got into the business. She explained to me that the times have changed with the digital age. It's now easy to school yourself on makeup on YouTube. That conversation led me to searching the site for all kinds of eye how-tos (there are tons!)—and bookmarking my favorites. Here are my ten must-see eye video tutorials.
1. BASIC EYE SHADOW TECHNIQUES
This one is on the longer side, but has a lot of good tips and product comparisons for eye makeup novices.
2. THE EVERYDAY TO WEDDING-DAY EYE
This video has a great, clear close-up shot and a detailed how-to for a super-natural eye.
3. BRIGHTER AND BIGGER EYES
From the famed Michelle Phan, this tutorial is especially perfect for all of you incredibly visual gals. There are no words—just music and video.
4. EASY SMOKY EYES
Every girl must know how to master the smoky eye. Here’s a good starting point from Pixiwoo.
5. BURBERRY-INSPIRED BROWN EYE SHADOW
This is a girl after my own heart. Nic from Pixiwoo shows how to create an all-brown look. It’s smoky, but not overly dramatic. Eyeshadow for brown eyes ->

I’ve always been a fan of the plum/pink eye shadow combination. This French lass is somehow able to make it look incredibly simple and she stays very close to the camera so that it’s easy to follow along.
