Christian Lacroix must’ve been bitten by the Betsey Johnson bug, because his models’ hair looked a lot like hers: big volume, blunt bags and crimps.
Runways are the way to spot trends sartorial and beauty — so is the crimp making a comeback from the 80s?
Caviar makes me think of Russian oligarchs swathed in Dennis Basso furs at an ostentatious party with friends, downing the rich sturgeon roe spread on crackers while shooting back grade A vodka, cigarette dangling from one hand.

I’m an eyelash nazi.
The curl has to be the curliest it can go and each lash has to be darkened as dramatically as possible with the mascara brand I’m obsessing over at that moment (read: Maybelline’s The Colossal Volum Express in Glam Black). I’ve spent my money on shu uemura and Shiseido eyelash curlers, and even more dollar bills on eyelash primers. Yup, I wasn’t lying when I said eyelash nazi.

Ralph Lauren’s little girl, Dylan Lauren, is looking to make her mark on the beauty market.
Lauren’s confectionary retailer, Dylan’s Candy Bar, signed a deal with Sephora until May 2009 to create a new bath and bodycare line called Re-Treat.

On the runways of Maison Martin Margiela in Paris, the models wore wigs and stockings that covered their faces. Let’s hope this is NOT a new hair trend for 2009.
The Cindy Lou-esque hairpieces at Christian Dior took a whopping three days for Orlando Pita to make and were so heavy, model Chanel Iman said it “felt like we all got a three-hour face-lift treatment”. Let’s hope this is also NOT a new hair trend for 2009.

The entrance of October means many, many things: Jacket season, changing leaves, spiced lattes, Daylight Savings, Halloween, Oktoberfest, soups at dinner and pumpkin anything.
Pumpkin, that bright orange squash, is homey and familial, known more for ingesting in pie, cookie, latte or roasted seed forms. Less known are its contributions to preserving and conversing beauty because this melon gourd is packed with protein and zinc, as well as serves as a cholesterol combatant.

Yesterday night, I attended an event thrown by a fabulous publicist friend of mine, who recently cropped her hair into a bob just at ear length, a la Yves Saint Laurent Fall ‘08.
Despite the shift in weather, chic women in major fashion cities are taking a cue from the Victoria Beckhams, Rihannas and Katie Holmes of the world, shearing their long locks into short styles. The bob, over the years, has morphed from the single, straight cut of yesteryear into a myriad of styles to suit different personalities and comfort levels:

The Parisian cool go to one place for all their fashion, music, art and design needs: Colette.
Colette and Aeroports de Paris, who operate Charles de Gaulle Airport, have come up with a limited-edition travel beauty kit called “Kit de Beaute Colette pour Aeroports de Paris” that happily conforms to those pesky, annoying security requirements — I know a girl who had to forfeit her Smith’s Rosebud Salve because of them. Not good.

First it was hot rocks. Then it was suction cups. Now it’s snakes.
People will do anything to when it comes down to beauty and pampering, especially if the result is rest, relaxation and the preservation of youth.
