Beauty Bits: September 29, 2008

  • On the runways of Maison Martin Margiela in Paris, the models wore wigs and stockings that covered their faces. Let’s hope this is NOT a new hair trend for 2009.
  • The Cindy Lou-esque hairpieces at Christian Dior took a whopping three days for Orlando Pita to make and were so heavy, model Chanel Iman said it “felt like we all got a three-hour face-lift treatment”. Let’s hope this is also NOT a new hair trend for 2009.
  • Dr. Nicholas Perricone is offering pheromone-based perfumes that help with anti-aging. At $383 for 25 ml. Unless you’ve got money stored in big amounts in some obscure Swiss bank, Oil of Olay might have to be your recourse.
  • The new Miss Dior Cherie commercials from Christian Dior were directed by Lost In Translation, The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette director, Sofia Coppola. Kirsten Dunst was not present, oddly enough.
  • In other animal-involved spa treatments, a Virginia spa is offering “fish pedicures”, in which toothless carp eat the dead skin off your feet. Uh, no thanks.

I saw some photos of the Maison Martin Margiela show online, and the models looked crazy scary with those stockings covering their faces. Between that and the “fish pedicures,” I’m not sure which is worse.
