Continuing on the same vein as a few posts ago, in discussion of where to find cult fragrances, is the topic of Coqui Coqui Perfumes, a scent collection founded by former male model and current hot hotelier, Nicolas Malleville.
The 32-year-old Argentinian model left life in front of the camera lenses of photographers like Mario Testino — and on shoots with famous mannequins like Kate Moss — to start a little hotel chain in 2001 called Coqui Coqui, with various gorgeous locations nestled in the Yucatan Peninsula (Tulum, Valladolid and Coba included).
After establishing his name as a boutique hotelier, Malleville opened Coqui Coqui Perfumer in 2003, a Valladolid-located shop that still continues to flourish, carrying a namesake fragrance brand that counts Renee Zellweger as a huge fan. Pure, natural essential oils from local botanicals make up the foundation of Coqui Coqui products, a range which not only has eau de colognes, but soaps, face creams, butter emulsions, scented candles and linen sprays in aloe, lemon, chamomile, agave, jasmine, mint, coconut and eucalyptus blends.
So if you ever make it down to Yucatan, Nicolas Malleville is your man.
