Kilian Hennessy might be heir to one of the biggest spirits fortunes — I mean, who hasn’t heard of Hennessy cognac? — but he’s not just floating by using the family name.
Well, not really anyway.
The 36-year-old perfumer launch By Kilian at in New York (Bergdorf Goodman) and Paris (Printemps) last year, a luxury fragrance collection costing anywhere from $115 for a small bottle to $2,500 for a 1-liter flacon. Hennessy recently collaborated on a limited-edition collection with Sophie Matisse, the granddaughter of — you guessed it — the artist, Henri Matisse.
In September ‘09, By Kilian will be launching its eighth scent, the note details of which are still a secret.
And if $2,500 for a bottle of perfume is a little much for your recession-conscious budget, you can indulge in By Kilian travel sprays and six candles, which are due to roll out this coming March.
