Beauty News: Men’s Fragrances Dominate The Market

It seems that just before attention shifts from the menswear shows in Milan (and the blazing row between Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana over “trousergate”) to the tents of Bryant Park, a few major brands have announced the launch of new men’s fragrances.

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, one might be thinking of what to get a significant other of the male persuasion. Since most fellows probably won’t appreciate quilted pants or too much velvet (as seen on menswear Fall ‘09 runways), then a manly scent will fit the bill, instead.

Diesel is launching it’s first solo men’s fragranced called Only The Brave — think oriental, wood and leather.

YSL is rolling out Nuit de L’Homme. This one is oriental floral, along the same line as Diesel’s new scent, but at least YSL locked down French actor, Vincent Cassel, for its ad campaign.

John Varvatos is unveiling his third men’s fragrance named Artisan this coming March. Moving away from the orient-inspired, Varvatos is going the citrus herbal route.
