When it comes to color, Pantone usually has the final say.
It appears the color of the year for 2009 is mimosa, as in not the alcoholic beverage preferred by ladies that brunch, but an orange-hued yellow bright enough to sear a cornea.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says, “The colour yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance. Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation.”
When Pantone crowns a certain shade the year’s color victor, it’s usually because it was seen all over the runway and in eye shadow palettes from your favorite beauty brands.
Hmmmm. Let’s hope the economic future is as bright as this color is.
