Beauty Products: Eyelash Enhancers

Today, a very interesting news item came out about the FDA reporting that glaucoma drugs appear to make eyelashes look longer and fuller when applied to the lash base.

This brings up the question, should drugs used to treat health conditions be used for cosmetic purposes?

Though some patients reported at least “minimal” growth with Lumigan (the current market name), a few dropped out of the study because of irritation and redness of the eye.

That’s enough to make me pass.

Instead, I’ll be sticking to these less sketchy eyelash enhancers:

Estee Lauder Lash Primer Plus. This conditioning mascara base strengthens the lashes, dries quickly and reduces breakage. No falsies needed with this stuff.

Lancome Cils Booster XL. Talk about best friends. This is what I put on every single morning before my volumizing mascara — in fact, I can’t remember the last day I went without it. Microfibers allow for thicker lashes, and the triangular brush helps keep ‘em separated.

MAC Prep + Prime Lash. This brand goes on white and dries semi-clear, so you won’t get any telltale white areas if you miss a spot. Plus, it smooths and conditions your merry band of lashes.

Blinc Lash Primer. From the makers of the oh-so-popular Kiss Me Mascara comes their accompanying primer, which does double duty as a lash/eyebrow treatment and eyelash enhancer. It’s packed with vitamin E and vitamin B5 and free of dyes, fumes and fragrances, so your health is still intact.

Who needs glaucoma medicine when you have Estee Lauder and Lancome, anyway?

I use Revitalash and feel comfortable using it because it was created by an eye doctor…. Maybe I am too trustworthy, but I feel if a doctor created something it shouldn’t be harmful… Either way I love the results I got with Revitalash. And as far as it being uncomfortable to put near my eye, it is less irritating than putting on eyeliner

I am an cosmetic product junkie who’s tried most of the lash growth products out there. Veronica’s right about one in particular—Revitalash. It was developed by an MD for his wife while she was going through Chemo. That alone sold me! I love the way my lashes look! I get asked all the time what mascara I use. I tell people, “it’s not the mascara, it’s the Revitalash”
    I highly recommend trying Revitalash!
