Beauty Tip: The Best of Makeup Removers ‘09

Not removing your makeup before bedtime is a cosmetic cardinal sin.

Waking up with mascara, concealer and eyeliner crusted onto your face is not anyone’s idea of a good look, nor is it particularly healthy for your skin. While your body is in REM, your dermis is supposed to rest and breathe.

To ensure you don’t do any permanent pore damage the next time a Friday night turns out to be way too much fun, here are my picks for the best of the best makeup removers to help you wake up (somewhat) in line on Saturday morning.

Lancome Effacil Gentle Eye Makeup Remover ($26). Non-oily, water-based and gentle for erasing non-waterproof makeup. It also leaves behind a refreshing, cool feeling — not unlike eating three Frisk mints all at once.

Borghese Delicato Gentle Makeup Remover ($36.50). Lavender and Comfrey extracts keep skin around the eyes soft, while something called Acqua di Vita Complex to inject moisture. This baby is also oil-free, as well as dermatologist-approved.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover ($12.50). If you’re a fan of waterproof mascara, but not so much a fan of how it just does NOT come off, then invest in this product. It’s dye-free lotion packed with a blend of organic camomile, allantoin and sorbitol for calming, conditioning and moisturizing.

Jason Natural Quick Clean Makeup Remover Pads ($5.40). For those who are adamant about using organic mascaras and paraben-free bronzer, there is an option for you. These pre-moistened pads have cucumber, Vitamin C, aloe vera and Vitamin B & C extracts — all natural, of course.

Estee Lauder Take It Away Total Makeup Remover ($22). This water-based product is a cream-gel that smells like herbal citrus. It’s compatible with any skin type — and it’ll get rid of that long-lasting lipstick that needs to come off at end of day.

Makeup, begone!

    Hi,
I’ve recently tried the Yes to Carrots Eye and Face make up remover – Paraben free and Organic ingredients and I must say it works great and very affordable.

I recommend you trying it and maybe writing a review on it.
    Thanks.

I work in the Spa industry and when I can across the Made from Earth Green Tea Toxin Cleanser I wasn’t sure if i would like it because I have always preferred a foaming cleanser. The first time I used it I was hooked.

Especially because I wear a alot of makeup and this gets it all off.

I still have to use make up remover to take off my eye makeup but it gets the rest of my eye make up off.

I Highly Recommend the Made from Earth CLeanser for all skin types..you can find them at http://www.madefromearth.com/
