Today’s lineup at New York Fashion Week?
3.1 Philip Lim, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Doo.Ri, Anna Sui, Marchesa, Michael Kors, J. Mendel, Tory Burch, Oscar de la Renta and Proenza Schouler.
Proenza Schouler, a fashion elite favorite and pet brand of Anna Wintour, had its attendees falling for jackets, coats and dresses, all of which were paired with a light orange eye shadow rimmed and blended with dark brown eye liner. It had echoes of the same orange as was seen at Rodarte, but less stark and bold. Lips and cheeks at Proenza Schouler were left bare, perhaps to highlight the clothes on the runway and not makeup on the models.
3.1 Philip Lim took a hint from the Yves Saint Laurent presentation at Paris Fashion Week in February 2008. Lim’s mannequins came out with short, fringed bobs, though they were more of the mushroom variety than the ones seen at YSL. It was all very cute — and looked very similar to the new haircut a girlfriend of mine, the west coast editor of FASHION Magazine, got recently in New York before Fashion Week began!
Anna Sui rimmed her girls’ eyes in black and made their mouths a pouty red, while Oscar de la Renta paired smudged brown shadow with high, teased bouffants. Michael Kors had the same idea as Anna Sui in terms of eyes rimmed in black, but he stayed away from a red pout and kept it clean.
Fall ‘09, so far, seems to be either about the emphasized eyes with a nude lip or a red lip!
