Calvin Klein, Isaac Mizrahi, Brian Reyes, Ports 1961, Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger, Kai Kuhne, Phi, Rebecca Taylor and Zac Posen all hit the runways today.
Francisco Costa, in true Calvin Klein style, kept his models virtually free of makeup, save for a strong brow (think in the manner of a Jennifer Connelly) to complement what Style.com’s Nicole Phelps called “rigorous, defined, precise clothes” that were “also sexy”.
Cat-eyes and bouffants reigned supreme at Brian Reyes, while Isaac Mizrahi opted for red, red lips and oddly shaped hats (some looking exactly like a tote purse with the bottom cut out). Eyebrows were also an emphasis at Phi, where that sheer orange-ish eye shadow seen on several other runways made an appearance again.
Rebecca Taylor accented her entire collection with bright pops of blue for Fall ‘09, including her models’ eyes, a nice (and almost spring-like) departure from other fall presentations. Tommy Hilfiger, like so many others before him this Fashion Week, also swept sheer orange eye shadow on his mannequins while leaving everything else fairly bare. An orange trend, much?!
Vera Wang went with the strong brow and pale, matte lip. At Zac Posen, there was absolutely no minimalism when is came to makeup. His models, outfitted in “forties-inflected Victoriana” (according to Phelps again), sported very smudged kohl-rimmed eyes and smudged red pouts, which — at times — gave off the impression of a 40s gal whose had way too many gin and tonics to drink.
