Hair 101: Messy Chignons With Chris Funk

The end of October is slowly creeping up, meaning November is almost here.

This, in turn, means holiday season has begun and invitations to parties and Christmas company gatherings are stamped, in the mail and in need of your RSVP. Holiday soirees are best for swilling free Dom or Veuve, wearing that sparkly new LBD and, of course, debuting a fabulous hairdo.

That’s where Chris Funk comes in.

Chris is a force to reckon with in the hair scene — his attention to the coif is second to none, a trait that he has passed on to his fellow blo-ers oh so well. And he’s here to show us how to get the perfect messy chignon.

MASTERING THE PERFECT MESSY CHIGNON

1.    Curl hair with a flatiron or curling iron.

2.    Backcomb the crown with your mad-backcombing skills!

3.    Smooth hair with smoothing brush, bringing it all to your desired ponytail placement (side, back).

4.    Place elastic around hair.

5.    Pull tight, aiight.

6.     Grab individual pieces of hair, backcomb, twist up and insert pins at base
of pony for a sexy, messy finish.

7.     Hairspray, hairspray, hairspray!

8.     Strut.

Bring on the RSVPs, please.

About Chris Funk

A day in the life of Blo Blow Dry Bar’s very own Style Director, Chris Funk, is glamorous to say the least. He is an internet phenomenon, teaching hair tutorials on blomedry.com, and a TV personality, as seen on his Blo Hair Trend segments on CityTV’s Breakfast Television and NOVUS TV’s Style Guide.
