Holiday Wish List: Top Five Beauty Products For Christmas ‘08

The annual November chill wreaks havoc on all things: your hair, boots, skin, clothes and attitude in general.

After all, no one likes nights that roll in at 4 pm — and no one likes torrential downpours that equate frizz and frazzle.

I suppose the two bright spots in November are Thanksgiving long weekends and the excuse to really start jotting down a wish list of things you wouldn’t mind finding under your tree for the holidays.

Here is a little wish list of top five beauty products that will keep you pretty right into the New Year and will make it a very happy holiday, indeed.

MOR Cosmetics’ Imperia Garden of Hespera Eau de Parfum ($58). Smelling your best is just as important as looking your best, and why not do it with a delicious scent captured in a black glass bottle and atomizer? That way it’ll look pretty on the dresser and make you smell pretty, too.

Bliss’ The Youth As We Know It Moisture Cream ($79). Winter brings snowflakes, but it also can bring flaky, dry skin. The Youth As We Know It promises wrinkle renovation, exfoliation, oxygenation, binding hydration, surface line relaxation, cellular respiration, and collagen and elastin regeneration. And from our previous Bliss experiences, this cream will deliver exactly that.

Blinc Kiss Me Eyeliner ($24). Sometimes party LBDs (Little Black Dresses) need to coupled with dramatic eyes (perhaps coupled with cranberry eye shadow) for holiday oomph. This eye liner won’t budge. No smudging, no fading and no running, all of which are typical cons when it comes to regular drugstore versions. It’s like tattooing on eyeliner, except this one comes off with water and a little elbow grease.

Tarte Natural Beauty Cheek Stain ($28). You know that fresh flush you get after a day on the slopes or taking in crisp, mountain air? Tarte is queen in replicating that color with its popular cheek stain, but now it comes in all-natural ingredients (sans those nasty parabens!) as well, employing “superfruits” like acai and goji berry to brighten the skin. Tarte also works with Sambazon’s Sustainable Acai Project to conserve the Amazon rainforest, so getting that perfect flush helps save the world, too.

Paula Dorf Lipsicle ($18). You get the benefits of both lipstick and lip gloss in one. Plus, the shades come in colors named after the world’s greatest artists that ever lived. My picks for the season are the Erte, Dali and Renoir — and they won’t cost millions or an art dealer, either. The Louvre would have nothing on you.

Those are a few of my favorite things for this Holiday ‘08. Feel free to make them yours, too.
