This afternoon, I got the chance to preview the newest goodies from organic product range Kiss My Face and chat with its two founders, Bob MacLeod and Steve Byckiewicz.
Kiss My Face, established in the early 1980s on a 200-acre organic farm in New York’s Hudson River Valley, was one of the first companies to dabble in organic cosmetics and skincare, bursting onto the scene with their famous olive bar soaps. MacLeod and Byckiewicz, both vegetarians, set out to make healthy products at the grassroots levels, using organic and natural ingredients (think shea butter, olive oil, beeswax, silica, tea tree and Iceland Moss) blended together in laboratory locations around the world.
Fast forward nearly 30 years later and Kiss My Face has exploded from body care items to cosmetics, toothpaste, shaving cream, moisture shaves, deodorants, lip moisturizers (in coconut pineapple, maple sugar and pina colada) and face washes. Look out for the official launch of the new Olive My Body soothing balm, as well as the S.O.S. lip shimmers and tints (which, might I add, have made my pucker baby soft all day!). Kiss My Face also debuted an organic children’s body care line with a body wash, detangler, shampoo, conditioner and bubble bath, brightly packaged in hard-to-miss orange and neon green.
The brand and its team are firm believers in practicing what they preach, so Kiss My Face box packaging in now made of post-consumer products, with plastic packaging moving in the same direction. Instructions and ingredients are printed right inside the box to avoid unnecessarily wasting paper, giving it that grassroots feel, too.
Stayed tuned in the coming weeks for a Q&A with MacLeod and Byckiewicz, as well as tips from Kiss My Face in-house makeup artist, Mia.
