Fashion and beauty are the Bobbsey Twins of aesthetics.
There are supermodels masterminding the colors of eyeshadow palettes (Daria Werbowy for Lancome) and beauty companies enlisting style icons to pump up their lines for the masses (Cory Kennedy for Urban Decay).
Fragrances are also following the fashion trajectory of late, judging by the release of scent collections, the newest ones being Harajuku Lovers by Gwen Stefani (with five smells), Kapsule by Karl Lagerfeld (with three) and Incanto by Salvatore Ferragamo (also with three). Each set allows you to mix, match and blend the fragrances, much like a well-heeled fashionista would do with the vintage and luxury pieces in her wardrobe.
The upside to this is one can create their own fragrance, a personal scent style to complement your street style, if you will. The downside, of course, is over-stimulus and just way too much choice, something the modern woman already has enough of from day to day.
Would you rather a stable of fragrances that can be personalized at will or would you rather buy a single signature scent to save the hassle?
