I confess, I confess.
I’m completely neurotic when it comes to my hair. If a strand is out of place or if a wave isn’t swirled properly, yours truly might very well have a conniption fit. It’s sad, yes, but also sadly true.
My morning routine hair-primping routine typically consists of a blowdry, followed by meticulous curling of the bottom of my hair with an inch-and-a-half, purple Revlon curling iron. One thing is for sure: I don’t wake up with loose waves every morning.
To hold it all together — my sanity and my fresh mane — hairspray is a must. Here are my top five hairspray brands:
1. Sebastian Shaper Hairspray. It usually rings in at around $13 and is available at your local drugstore, though it works like came from the Warren Tricomi salon. I’ve been using it for years and, boy, does this Sebastian stuff ever hold like crazy.
2. Bumble and Bumble Does It All Spray. This one is a little pricier, tallying up to $25 at the drugstore, but it’s well worth the extra ten-spot because it’s a workable spray, meaning you can continue to style your hair after spraying. It also has ingredients added to protect the hair from extreme heat, a major plus if you’re the type of gal who’s addicted to styling tools.
3. L’Oreal Elnett Satin. The pros love, love, love live and breathe (but not too closely, since aerosol isn’t that great for lung capacity) this one because it holds steadfast without being too sticky. Elnett was previously not available stateside because of a banned ingredient, but that’s since been fixed and the product will be available at Target next month. It will set you back between $7 and $14, which is not a whole lot, considering Beyonce and Claudia Schiffer swear by it, too…
With the right brand, you can rock steady if your hair holds steady.
