History was made on Tuesday — and there’s plenty of product paraphernalia to prove it.
From Obama buttons to tees to posters (Shepard Fairey’s artwork took the cake) to coin collections to bobble-heads to calendars to pins to wine stoppers to dolls, no one is ever going to forget January 20.
Even beauty brands were jumping on [...]

If you stop to really think about the kinds of chemicals we subject our bodies to in the name of beauty, we’d probably think twice about some of the products we apply on a regular basis.

t’s always exciting getting anything two for the price of one, like Aldo’s regular 2-for-1 accessory sales or McDonald’s 2-for-1 chicken fajita deal (though staying away from this one might be a good idea for the waistline).
So when something comes along that’s 20-for-1, it’s basically a miracle.
Bliss’ Problem Salved ($18) is a newbie from the beauty brand, a modern day salve for the modern day woman or man who might need to soothe chapped lips and heels, fix scraggly eyebrows, stop blisters, tame flyaways and erase mascara smudges, not too mention the packaging is bright enough for you to find it at the bottom of your purse.

For a generation hellbent on instant gratification, online shopping is quickly becoming the norm when having to buy presents for one’s self or others.
Thanks to major e-tailers like Shopbop.com, Zappos.com, Yoox.com, Bluefly.com and Makeup.com, fashion and beauty junkies can shop for Marc by Marc Jacobs dresses, Gucci riding boots and Ole Henriksen scrubs in pajamas — no need to go through the pain of having the dress up in order to avoid shopping discrimination, a la Julia Roberts in ‘Pretty Woman’.
Fulfilling your favorite beauty junkie’s holiday wish list — even if it means it’s your own — is going to be easier than ever this 2008.

When it comes to color, Pantone usually has the final say.
It appears the color of the year for 2009 is mimosa, as in not the alcoholic beverage preferred by ladies that brunch, but an orange-hued yellow bright enough to sear a cornea.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says, “The colour yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance. Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation.”

Back in the day, my mother would have quite possibly disowned me if I ever came home with a blazing tattoo.
Now that I’m in my mid-late twenties, it turns out my mother’s dislike for ink art was pretty sound because getting inked wouldn’t have been my thing, but it doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate needled designs on the bodies of others.

Black Friday, Cyber Monday.
It’s a holiday shopping bonanza going down, as people have already begun gearing up to purchase gifts and surprises for the season.
Thank god Cyber Monday means you can purchase goodies in less than five mouse clicks, as in not leaving the comfort of your home, office cubicle or pajamas.

Today is Friday, but it’s not just any old Friday.
This Friday is also known as “Black Friday”, which is also known as the first day of the Christmas shopping season.
Besides bagging new clothes (Kova & T leggings for sure), a couple pairs of shoes (Sam Edelman Lombardo booties in grey) and some accessories (another chunky cocktail ring, perhaps?), I wouldn’t mind picking up a few good things for my ever-burgeoning beauty stash.

Your average male is oddly secretive when it comes to fashion and beauty.
Men go through great lengths to ensure you don’t find out they flip through your glossy magazines (likely reading up on those Cosmo tips!) and rifle through your beauty arsenal when you’re not around, but if they happen to be over and need some hair product, they’ll sheepishly ask. The best thing to do, in this case, is provide them with a wee arsenal of their own.
My recommendation is to go with Every Man Jack, an afforable, male-conscious range of products — for hair, body, skin and shave — made in the great NoCal city of San Francisco.
