It seems that just before attention shifts from the menswear shows in Milan (and the blazing row between Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana over “trousergate”) to the tents of Bryant Park, a few major brands have announced the launch of new men’s fragrances.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, one might be thinking of what [...]

Dust off your YSL Tributes or — if you’re lucky (or a magazine editor) — get used to tottering around for twelve hours (and more) straight in your new Nicholas Kirkwoods.
New York Fashion Week — running from February 13 to February 20 — is almost here.
Despite the constant doom and gloom, the shuttering of stores [...]

Too Faced cosmetics collaborated with Kipling bags for their Kipling Loves Too Faced limited-edition collection.
These covetable, chic totes and cases are filled with Too Faced goodies, like the “Glamour Eyes” collection with its Lovey Dovey Duo Eye Shadow, Mini Ooh & Aah Starry Eyed Liner, Mini Black Lash Injection and Mini Colorless Application Shadow Insurance. What is seen on runways of Fashion Week often ends up trickling into other related facets, like art, music, decor and beauty.
Since we’re currently in full Fashion Week mode, having gone from New York to London and now to Milan, there is a lot of inspiration coming from the catwalks of Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chris Benz, Vivienne Westwood and Just Cavalli in terms of color for Spring ‘09.

There’s a reason why makeup artists are called, well, artists.
During Fashion Week, it is their job to translate the mood of a collection on to the face, to turn the planes of models’ cheeks, the grooves of their eyelids and the curve of their lips into either a colorful, dramatic, monochrome, matte, shimmery or minimal canvas providing a point of reference for the clothing.

How I wish I were in New York, sitting front-row at Phillip Lim across from Anna Wintour, staring at the beautiful 3.1 Phillip Lim dresses and eventually taking home one of the best swag bags of Fashion Week.

If there was a show to be seen this weekend, it was Alexander Wang.
The energetic, wunderkind designer brought all types out, from model-designer best friend Erin Wasson to the Queen E (as in editrix) of American Vogue, Anna Wintour, who attended his presentation for the first time.
New York Fashion Week is now into Day Four and, thankfully, no longer under siege from Hurricane Hanna, who was pelting out raindrops of destruction on Dior and YSL heels at Bryant Park this past weekend.
While it rained cats and dogs outside, smoky gothic black cat eyes reigned big on a few major runways, namely Abaete, Yigal Azrouel and Diane von Furstenberg. Makeup artists, like Jeanine Lobell backstage at the Yigal presentation, kept the rest of the face minimal and zeroed aesethetic focus on the eyes.

Abigail Lorick, whose designs are the actual ones behind Gossip Girl’s Eleanor Waldorf, had one of the most anticipated New York Fashion Week showings.
Her presentation eschewed the crush of Bryant Park tent attendees and was instead held at a more intimate venue disguised as a cake party. With lemon cocktails. It was all very Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, minus the tight corsets, towering wigs and Jason Schwartzmann. The Lorick models wore extremely doll-like makeup — think lots of blue eyeshadow and bright pink, matte lipstick.
