To see what’s happening in beauty trends, the wisest (and most obvious) place to look is the runway and the collections coming down it.
It was clear the the fashion set that sequins were going to be huge last autumn-winter ‘09 and into the holiday season — those who have fallen for those glittery, shimmery little [...]

Three reasons to own a good concealer:
1. Too much fun occurred the night before.
2. A good brand shaves a few years off your real age if applied properly.
3. No one wakes up wanting to look like Wednesday Addams. Be gone, dark eye circles.
So what three concealers are best to have at the bottom of [...]

My girlfriend Shannon Heth — publicist extraordinaire (with the longest legs ever, might I add) — gave me a sample of Beaute’s Liqui-Gel Stain for Cheeks and Lips this weekend, developed by her New York-based good friend and star makeup artist, Beau Nelson.

Clowns are for kids and circuses, not for the hip, professional woman wearing her favorite NARS blush.
Unless you’re Anna Piaggi, who has the world’s sole “Get Out Of Jail Free” card for applying perfectly round circles of blush to apple cheeks, every blush-toting lady needs to learn the rules of application.

Sorry, Angelenos, I have some bad news today.
Fred Segal Beauty in Santa Monica, CA, is closing its doors after 16 years as a result of a lawsuit between its founders Michael Baruch and Paul DeArmas against Fred and Michael Segal.

How I wish I were in New York, sitting front-row at Phillip Lim across from Anna Wintour, staring at the beautiful 3.1 Phillip Lim dresses and eventually taking home one of the best swag bags of Fashion Week.

Abigail Lorick, whose designs are the actual ones behind Gossip Girl’s Eleanor Waldorf, had one of the most anticipated New York Fashion Week showings.
Her presentation eschewed the crush of Bryant Park tent attendees and was instead held at a more intimate venue disguised as a cake party. With lemon cocktails. It was all very Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, minus the tight corsets, towering wigs and Jason Schwartzmann. The Lorick models wore extremely doll-like makeup — think lots of blue eyeshadow and bright pink, matte lipstick.

A deathly pale pallor is not becoming on anyone, unless your name is Dita von Teese.
Blush is essential to bringing life, youth and vigor to the face, as long as you leave the round clown cheek blush dots to Village Voice scribe Lynn Yaeger. The difficulty in maintaing faux color all day is having to lug around both a powder palette and big brush to re-apply Nars’ Orgasm or MAC’s Stylus when the hump of mid-day hits.
