It seems that everywhere you look you are bombarded with the words, ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ but do we truly know the meaning of these words? What is the difference between natural and organic makeup? In the hopes of obtaining healthier products we tend to reach for the natural or organic brands. Although these words may seem similar it is important to be aware of the differences and to make an informed decision when purchasing such products.
A product labeled “natural” simply means that it has not been chemically altered from its original state and nothing as been removed or added. Natural products are derived from natural plants or animal sources but the use of the term is not regulated or certified.

If someone asked me what sense I couldn’t live without, it would be sight.
That’s why it is increasingly important for me to protect my peepers in any way possible — which includes not wearing my contact lenses for 16 hours straight, eating as many carrots as possible (kidding) and using organic mascara — because anything you put on the skin, especially near the eyes, is just as important as what you put in the body.
When I’m talking mascara, I mean the kind without parabens, petrolatum, formaldehyde and tar.

Macy’s is going the way of green, eight brands at a time, with the launch of their store-in-a-store concept Beautiful Planet at their location in Herald Square.
With people turning to eco-consciousness as a lifestyle rather than a passing trends, Beautiful Planet is giving consumers the choice of using natural, paraben-free beauty products that work just as well as other Sephora or luxe department store brands. Even the decor itself is green-minded and sustainable: bamboo, recycled metals, low VOC paints and coconut shell tiles. Each brand comes with a description printed on post-consumer recycled paper, as well.
