When it comes to color, Pantone usually has the final say.
It appears the color of the year for 2009 is mimosa, as in not the alcoholic beverage preferred by ladies that brunch, but an orange-hued yellow bright enough to sear a cornea.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, says, “The colour yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance. Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation.”

When one goes from fashionista to recessionista, things that equate luxury and anything related to the good life get a serious trimming.
The trimming trickle-down effect seeps into other areas, too, which makes budget-conscious folk begin to cut out things like buying organic, healthy food and forking over money for fancy gym memberships.
Not good.

Rachel Roy — the beautiful wife and baby mama of hip hop mogul Damon Dash — has consistently been making her mark in the industry after launching her namesake fashion line.
Everyone’s now scrambling to work with Mrs. Dash, including heavyweights in the beauty world, probably trying to score an insider’s discount to her to-die-for contrasting Sioux dress or Hana trench.

Flip on the television, watch the runways, browse through glossy magazines and you’ll see one thing in common: Shiny, bright whites.
Chiclets of perfection are hard to come by, unless your first and last names are Julia and Roberts. Pristine and blanched choppers have gone through serious work, usually at the hands of some Beverly Hills or Upper East Side cosmetic dentist with tanks of nitrous oxide.

Black Monday 2008 May Be the Largest online Sales Day In Internet History
The busiest online holiday shopping days of 2008, better known as Black Friday, Cyber Friday, Black Monday, or Cyber Monday, (yes confusing) are almost upon us and not a moment too soon. Cyber Monday 2008 may turn out to be the largest online sales day in internet history despite the ailing U.S. economy and the latest R curse word – ‘Recession’, as retailers including ToysRUs don’t want to be stuck with excess inventory at the end of the year.

Estee Lauder is one of those storied cosmetics brands that evokes memories of grandmothers and gold compacts in the same vein.
Of course, the grandmother is chic and and the compact is gilded.
The brand, over years, reached out to newer, younger demographics but still remained luxurious in its successful pursuit — they did, after all, bring on Tom Ford to helm his Tom Ford for Estee Lauder limited-edition collections.
