A beautiful frame can bring out the best features in a Picasso or Jackson Pollack. Well-shaped and well-groomed eyebrows do the very same thing for your face.
Overplucking is a cardinal sin when it comes to eyebrows — unnatural does not equate comely. If a visit to brow guru Anastasia Soare is logistically or financially impossible, follow these steps in order to ensure you end up more Brooke Shields than Christina Aguilera, circa her “Dirrty” years.
Find your brow lines. Line a pencil vertically against one nostril — where the pencil hits is where your brow should begin. It should extend a little past your eye, but go no further to avoid making your eyes look droopy. To locate your arch, remember it should be directly above the outside of our iris. Ensure you don’t pluck too much or too little by shading, with an eyebrow pencil, the area you want to keep.
Pluck. Start beneath the brow from inside to outside — and remember to pull in the direction of hair growth.
Trim. Brush your eyebrows upward and if any pieces seem too long, cut carefully a little at a time. You don’t want to chop off more than necessary.
Fill. Using a brow pencil (I recommend CoverGirl’s Eye & Brow Makers Pencil Crayon Eyeliner), brow powder (try Laura Mercier Brow Powder Duo) or tinted brow gel (give Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel a go), shade in the areas that need enhancement.
And if you need high-brow inspiration, see Jennifer Connelly, Camilla Belle and Eva Mendes.
