For a generation hellbent on instant gratification, online shopping is quickly becoming the norm when having to buy presents for one’s self or others.
Thanks to major e-tailers like Shopbop.com, Zappos.com, Yoox.com, Bluefly.com and Makeup.com, fashion and beauty junkies can shop for Marc by Marc Jacobs dresses, Gucci riding boots and Ole Henriksen scrubs in pajamas — no need to go through the pain of having the dress up in order to avoid shopping discrimination, a la Julia Roberts in ‘Pretty Woman’.
Fulfilling your favorite beauty junkie’s holiday wish list — even if it means it’s your own — is going to be easier than ever this 2008.

Today is Friday, but it’s not just any old Friday.
This Friday is also known as “Black Friday”, which is also known as the first day of the Christmas shopping season.
Besides bagging new clothes (Kova & T leggings for sure), a couple pairs of shoes (Sam Edelman Lombardo booties in grey) and some accessories (another chunky cocktail ring, perhaps?), I wouldn’t mind picking up a few good things for my ever-burgeoning beauty stash.

Thanksgiving is officially over.
Leftover turkey has been stuffed into tupperware (enough for sandwiches for the next week), stuffing has been eaten to the last bread crumb, spilled cranberry sauce has been mopped up, family has departed and extra pumpkin pie has been inhaled.
But what to do with the pumpkin bits left from the pie-making process?
I say turn it into a homemade pumpkin foot scrub!

Your average male is oddly secretive when it comes to fashion and beauty.
Men go through great lengths to ensure you don’t find out they flip through your glossy magazines (likely reading up on those Cosmo tips!) and rifle through your beauty arsenal when you’re not around, but if they happen to be over and need some hair product, they’ll sheepishly ask. The best thing to do, in this case, is provide them with a wee arsenal of their own.
My recommendation is to go with Every Man Jack, an afforable, male-conscious range of products — for hair, body, skin and shave — made in the great NoCal city of San Francisco.

The annual November chill wreaks havoc on all things: your hair, boots, skin, clothes and attitude in general.
After all, no one likes nights that roll in at 4 pm — and no one likes torrential downpours that equate frizz and frazzle.
I suppose the two bright spots in November are Thanksgiving long weekends and the excuse to really start jotting down a wish list of things you wouldn’t mind finding under your tree for the holidays.
Here is a little wish list of top five beauty products that will keep you pretty right into the New Year and will make it a very happy holiday, indeed.

The other day, someone put the fear in me when it comes to deodorants and antiperspirants by mentioning the potential cancer-causing chemicals harboring within them.
It’s something I had never stopped to think about, having been a stick and gel user for the past, oh, 14 or 15 years of my life.
Looking at the back of my current antipersirpant — Speedstick Gel 24/7 in Fresh Rush (I’ve never been one for the girly scents) — I realized any label that reads “If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away” should set off major red flags.

Living a raucous, fast city existence is kind of what happens to single city gals in their (ahem) twenties — after all, it’s the only time you’ll be able to work hard and play hard with slim to none inklings of regret.
This said “raucous” lifestyle usually consists of a full day’s work (mine being in front of my MacbBook for most of it), evening events (yesterday it was a store opening) and potentially post-shindig beverages. Then comes the weekend, fueled by dinner, girls’ nights out and Sunday eggs benny brunches followed by a lazy Sunday afternoon.
I almost don’t want to think of what kind of trauma us young professional ladies put our bodies through living the fun life, but maybe — just maybe — its effects can be counteracted with holistic body products touting aromatherapy and naturopathy goodness.

It’s nice to know that in an industry focused on facade and outer beauty, there is still an emphasis on creating inner beauty through charity.
October was Breast Cancer Awareness month, a time during which many of beauty’s biggest brands — from Lancome to Estee Lauder to YSL to Too Faced to Shiseido — launch special edition products to raise funds for breast cancer research and to go along with that signature pink ribbon.
Other beauty brands are socio-economically conscious, too, working with organizations and high-profile figures to better the greater good of man, health and the environment.

Most women spend time and money trying to get rid of slick spots on their face, especially in the dreaded t-zone.
Translucent powders, blotting papers and matte lotions make the short list of makeup bag must-haves for this slippery issue. But we’re beginning to learn that not all oils are bad — in fact, beauty editors are going postal over Tamanu oil (dubbed “Sacred Oil” by locals), a traditional ingredient from tamanu tree nuts in the South Pacific.

The search for youth and beauty just got a little weirder — and ickier.
Elicina, a skincare line from Chile, promises to trigger collagen formation, clear pores, nourish skin, improve elasticity, restore skin color, regenerate damaged tissue and, basically, give you perfect skin.
It all sounds fantastic, doesn’t it?
Elicina might work for you if you’re not squeamish about creepy, crawly creatures. Namely, snails.
