Raspberry — as in the color and fruit — is on trend right now.
Both Julianne Moore and Brooke Shields wore the bright shade, respectively, on the red carpet recently at a film premiere and the Emmys. Then there’s the fact that the raspberry-strawberry Original is one of the most requested flavors at Fro-Yo emporium, Pinkberry.

Matching shoes, clothes and handbags is a no-no when it comes to style. It’s just as huge a no-no to match eye shadow with lipstick and nail polish.
What isn’t forbidden, however, is to match makeup colors with the season, as in pairing up your nail color this Fall ‘09 with the autumnal palette outside. This means when tree leaves leaves morph into brown and flutter slowly to earth, brushing that same color onto nails is the perfect manicure homage to a season of scarves, warm coats, crisp air and pumpkin spiced lattes.

What is seen on runways of Fashion Week often ends up trickling into other related facets, like art, music, decor and beauty.
Since we’re currently in full Fashion Week mode, having gone from New York to London and now to Milan, there is a lot of inspiration coming from the catwalks of Marc by Marc Jacobs, Chris Benz, Vivienne Westwood and Just Cavalli in terms of color for Spring ‘09.

Macy’s is going the way of green, eight brands at a time, with the launch of their store-in-a-store concept Beautiful Planet at their location in Herald Square.
With people turning to eco-consciousness as a lifestyle rather than a passing trends, Beautiful Planet is giving consumers the choice of using natural, paraben-free beauty products that work just as well as other Sephora or luxe department store brands. Even the decor itself is green-minded and sustainable: bamboo, recycled metals, low VOC paints and coconut shell tiles. Each brand comes with a description printed on post-consumer recycled paper, as well.

London Fashion Week is currently going down across the pond, meaning more Spring ‘09 collections and more reason to watch what makeup trends are coming down the runway.
At Nathan Jenden, the MAC artists backstage kept it clean and simple. Models like Chanel Iman wore dewy finishes (with slicked-back hair) and were polished off with MAC Clear Gloss on eyelids and on cheeks, a very interesting makeup move considering this gloss is usually used to give lip colors ultra-sheen.
