Look out in the next few weeks for a special Q&A with Ve Neill, the Oscar-winning makeup artist for The Pirates of the Caribbean movies!
Neill has just publicly launched her own line of makeup brushes, which I got a sneak preview of yesterday.
And yes, she helped Johnny Depp’s now infamous Keith Richards-inspired eyeliner for Captain [...]

Angela Bassett did it first at the 2009 Critics’ Choice Awards.
Then Mrs. Tom Cruise — aka. Katie Holmes — recently followed suit while supporting her A-list hubby at the UK premiere of Valkyrie.
Oh, the power of lilac eye shadow.
This shade is perfect for those with a dark (like Bassett) or an olive (like Holmes) complexion [...]

Celebrity makeup artist Scott Barnes hit it big after scoring Jennifer Lopez as a client and creating that sun-kissed glow she’s known for (recent proof: her look at this year’s Golden Globes, from top to bottom)

The first major award show went off without too much of a hitch in Los Angeles yesterday, as Hollywood’s A-list hit the red carpet for the 2009 Golden Globes.
Given the economic state of the world, many actresses opted to keep their dresses and makeup very pared down and simple — bright, bold colors did not [...]

Award buzz surrounding Rachel Getting Married star, Anne Hathaway, is reaching a feverish pitch.

Award season in Los Angeles is gearing up big time, what with Golden Globe nominations already announce and with the Oscar list not far behind.
Essie teamed up with the Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau to concoct a new, limited-edition nail shade called “Love, Beverly Hills xx”.
This color is as red as the carpets Kate Winslet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Sean Penn, Penelope Cruz and Tom Cruise will be walking on come early next year — plus those flecks of 24-karat gold in the polish are as shiny as those coveted golden statues.

Reese Witherspoon is America’s Sweetheart — and, boy, did she ever look elegantly sweet in at the recent Country Music Awards.
I got the chance to speak to Lyle Remier, a makeup artist for M.A.C. (and co-designer of the clothing label Evan & Dean), about how to replicate Witherspoon’s enviable CMA look.

Celebrity designers are a bit old hat these days, whether it be a celeb launching their own line (like Fetish by Eve) or a celeb teaming up with an already-established label (Rachel Bilson with DNKY).
A road a little less traveled is the celebrity makeup line — the only ones I can think of off the bat are Mary Kate and Ashley for Claire’s Accessories and Stuff by Hilary Duff for mass retailers (think Wal-Mart and JC Penney).
Leave it to model, supermom, television host, skivvies schiller and branding machine Heidi Klum to team up with long-time employer Victoria’s Secret for “The Heidi Klum Collection” for the brand’s Very Sexy Makeup line, the new collection which she debuted at the Grove in Los Angeles last week.

One of the biggest benefits of attending swanky red carpet soirees — that have to do with fashion — is the perk of exiting said soiree with a serious bag of swag.
My Hollywood Life Style Awards goodie cachet came with the usuals like tees, soaps and gift certificates, but surprisingly my favorite swag was a big bottle of Jessica Simpson’s first-ever fragrance, Fancy.
