A Body Scrub for Every Skin Type

Love and attention — you give so much of it to your face in the form of serums, masks, sunscreens, mists and moisturizers. You even exfoliate on the regular (at least you should be)! But are you giving the rest of your skin the same amount of tender loving care? If not, it’s time to bump up the skincare routine and give your body a nice, good scrub. Just like any other beauty product, body scrubs are not all created equally. The key is determining what type of skin you have and finding one that’s best for you!

Skin-Scrubbing Saviors

Sensitive Skin. For those unlucky ladies who turn red to the touch, it’s important to pick a scrub that is non-abrasive and full of soothing ingredients. Kiehl’s Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub is a cream-based scrub, infused with aloe and chamomile for a gentle exfoliation that will leave sensitive skin soft and silky smooth, without the irritation.

Dry Skin. Those of you who are slathering moisturizer on 10 times a day may be suffering from severe dry skin. While that moisturizer is obviously important, you can also help treat your skin by using a scrub with buffing grains in it. Try  Lancôme Paris Exfoliant Fraîchelle to condition and soften dry skin, while leaving it radiant and refreshed. This exfoliator is full of vitamins and essential fatty acids to give your dry skin a much-needed calming effect.

Rough Skin. Your skin isn’t just dry, but it’s also flaky, red, tight and itchy — ouch! Products with sea salt are ideal for treating rough spots, while plant oils will soothe the itch and inflammation. Use The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub to condition and soften fragile skin with softening butters, beeswax and salt grains.

MDC Quick Tip: Rough skin can be especially painful when winter weather sets in. To prevent and alleviate symptoms of this skin type, use an oatmeal and milk-infused product during cold seasons, such as Archipelago Botanicals Oat Sugar Scrub.

Oily Skin or Skin Prone to Body Acne. Treat oily or acne-prone skin on your body with a scrub containing clarifying and antibacterial agents such as grapefruit seed oil and honey. Chock-full of antioxidants and bacteria-banishing agents, The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Scrub also contains Vitamins A and C, which are known to keep skin beautiful and blemish free.
