Be Your Own Lucky Penny With This Copper Makeup Tutorial

We’ll be the first to admit it — when we fall for a color, boy do we find ways to put it to werk! You’ve probably already witnessed our obsessions firsthand with our tutorial of  all-lavender, pink and oxblood everything. And since this is the year of “the glow” (à la shimmer, glitter, highlighter and basically anything that sparkles), we had our go-to gal and makeup artist Marygene Rose show us how we can coat our faces in the same shade as the lucky penny in your wallet: copper!

Call us obsessed, but we’re feelin’ all-copper everything.

Copper Lids

Step 1. Using a blending brush, dust copper eye shadow all over your lid, buffing the shade just above your crease. We used Radar from the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Eyeshadow Palette.

Step 2. Using the same shade and a small precision brush, apply shadow along your lower lash line and blend out.

Step 3. To really add some *glow* to your look, dab highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes and along your brow bone.

Copper Cheeks

Step 1. Using an angled blush brush, swipe a deep, bronze blush or sheen bronzer (try NYX Powder Blush in Copper) along your cheeks and up across your cheekbones.

Copper Lips

Step 1. Line your lips with a nude lip liner and fill them in. Layer with a shimmery, pigmented lip gloss like Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss in Broadway Bronze. Add a dot of liquid highlighter to your Cupid’s bow for fuller-looking lips! We used NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sun Goddess.
