Emerald City: How to Wear Spring’s “It” Color

Emerald: Not only is this rich hue “The Color of the Year” according to Pantone (the world-renowned authority on color), it’s one of the simplest shades to work into your beauty regimen for spring. Depending on the saturation, this color can be worn by almost anyone. If you have lighter skin, try more teal-based takes on the color. For those of you with deeper coloring, opt for darker versions of the pigment.

Even though emerald might seem bold, it can be worn in an understated way—for work or for play. In light of this, we thought we’d show you 3 simple ways to work the emerald trend into your beauty look…

It’s in the eyes. Quite literally, too. Line the lower waterline of your eyes with a creamy emerald eyeliner. This look was seen on the Spring 2013 runways of Stella McCartney among other leading designers. It truly is the perfect way to add a pop of this peacock color to your look without going overboard. Try Sephora + Pantone Universe Graphic Sculpt Waterproof Jumbo Eyeliner in Emerald to get the look.
Tip it off. As with all bold color beauty trends, we like to give the color du jour a test drive on our nails. There’s no better way, really. Lately, we’ve been loving Essie Trophy Wife; it’s the perfect pearly emerald to gloss on for spring and it goes with almost everything that’s in stores this season.
Jade shadows. To get this look as seen at Derek Lam Spring 2013, swipe on a shimmery jewel toned jade for a surprisingly refreshing spin on your standard shadow routine. Try L’Oreal Infalliable 24 HR Eye Shadow in Endless Sea.
