While a good stiletto certainly holds a special place in our hearts, we’ve fallen head over heels for these cute spring kicks by Keds. When it comes to practicality, it’s hard to beat a good pair of sneakers. But when they’re extremely adorable and affordable? We are soled.
We took one good look at this season’s collection, and we knew we needed to create manis to match. So four of us Team MDC members in collaboration with Keds chose our favorite styles from the Spring 2014 collection and set out to do just that. Come take a walk in our shoes!

When Life Gives You Lemons …

Our editorial director Caitlin Larwood always has a bright and sunny disposition, so it surprised no one that she fell in love with these lemon tennies. “When I saw these Keds for Kate Spade New York Pointer sneakers, I knew they were a must-have accent to my white jeans and bright summer tops. It was so fun to add the extra pop of color on my nails using a green and yellow version of the pinstripe mani to match my shoes,” says Caitlin.

Ahoy, Matey!

To managing editor Jessyca Dewey, a plain white T-shirt, boyfriend jeans and sneakers sound like the ideal outfit for a warm Sunday afternoon.  “Our nautical nail mani is one of my favorites, and the Champion Anchors tennis shoes match perfectly! Plus, I love the ocean and anything that reminds me of it, so naturally I was drawn to this combination,” says Jessyca.

Cherry Picking

Our group director Maria Speranza can’t wait to wear these fun red sneakers on her honeymoon in Europe! (Go ahead — tell her congratulations in the comments section!) “I love a clean, classic look with a pop of color, and these red Teacup tennis shoes are just that!” Maria says, adding that they are the perfect final touch to just about any outfit. To complement the red and white kicks, Maria recreated our colorful French nails in red and white.

In the Saddle

Always our office fashionista, editor and producer Deven Hopp chose these Boyfriend Saddle shoes for their versatility. These shoes can be worn with jeans, shorts or even a dress, but they still have the comfort of a tennis shoe. “Plus, who doesn’t love the juxtaposition of denim and lace?” asks Deven, who paired her shoes with a denim and lace mani inspired by our leather and lace nails.
