Let it be known: Bloggers are becoming today’s tastemakers. One such arbiter of cool who’s been on our radar: illustrator, writer and photographer Garance Doré, whose eponymous blog captures her undeniably chic French style, witty humor and impeccable taste in beauty. In the below video Doré shot with fashion writer Derek Blasberg for L'Oréal, she takes us through that trademark beauty aesthetic. Often seen sporting a trendy topknot (“My hair has a life of its own,” she says) and pared-down makeup, Doré champions an effortlessness that makes us adore her. “I do all my makeup myself,” she says, which includes erasing shine with Estée Lauder loose powder, playing up the planes of her face with YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch, conjuring the faintest flush with Bobbi Brown Blush in Nude Pink and maximizing her lashes with L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara. That signature bun, perched high atop her crown, is fixed in place with L’Oréal Elnett Satin Hairspray and a prayer, and is a style Doré discloses she repeats because she knows it flatters her face best. (In the next breath, though, she admits she needs a new go-to ’do—stat.) Above all else, it’s her frank honesty that endears us the most…and the fact that her very “French” outlook on beauty is thus: “It’s more about how you feel than being perfect.” What isn’t to love about that?
