Runway Beauty: Giorgio Armani's Turquoise Lids

How do you introduce color to women who consistently pick neutrals? That became the question on makeup artist Linda Cantello’s mind when creating the eye-centric look at Giorgio Armani's spring 2013 ready-to-wear show. Her solution: Paint a subtle gray lid and bump up the color quotient with turquoise eyeliner. “Mr. Armani and I rendered the overall makeup look sexy, with a soft matte gray eye and a touch of light turquoise blue liner,” she said, adding that this pop of glamorous, sensual pigment is easily wearable by color-shy women. Here Cantello explains how to get the complete look.
Step 1: Prep your skin with Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Extrema Obsidian Mineral High Recovery Elixir and Crema Nera Reviving Eye Compact.
Step 2: Lend a luminous yet matte finish to your skin by applying and blending Giorgio Armani Maestro Foundation. Further perfect any uneven areas (under your eyes and around the nose) with Giorgio Armani Maestro Eraser Concealer.
Step 3: Subtract any highlights on your skin with a light application of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Powder #2.
Step 4: Apply matte gray eye shadow (Cantello selected one from the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Palette in Steel Black) in a rectangular shape near the inner corners of your eyes, extending out into a triangular shape at the outer corners of your lids.
Step 5: Cantello created her turquoise eyeliner by mixing water with the vibrant blue eye shadow that is part of the new spring 2013 limited-edition Giorgio Armani Face & Eye Palette in Coral Bliss. Using a liner brush, draw a thick line along your upper lash lines.
Step 6: Define your eyes by drawing a thin line of black eyeliner (she used Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Eye Liner in Black) extremely close to your upper lash lines. Add faux lashes to “soften the graphic shape and add sensuality,” Cantello said.
Step 7: Finish the look with a generous application of mascara and a touch of sheer beige on the lips. Try: Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheer Lipstick in 100.
