Fall Trend Tutorial: Glitterati Glam
Glitz, glamour and glitter–or as we like to call them–the three G’s. This fall isn’t just about dramatic smoky eyes and rich, red lips—explore the more playful side of beauty a la Glitterati Glam. Inspired by extravagance and the club culture of the 70’s and 80’s, the trend on the runways was all about a fun accent of color and sparkle. Certainly glitter dusted eyelids isn’t a look for everyday, but celebrity makeup artist Elle Leary recreated the runway interpretation on one of MDC’s own, and our version is perfect for a girls night out.
Maintain the Basics
Matte skin and groomed brows were used to showcase the flashier features to come. Leary perfected our model Maria’s complexion with Keyvn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Powder Foundation. Then she sculpted the hollows of cheeks with a touch of bronzer and dusted Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Deep Coral on the apples.
Accent the Eyes
To create these metallic lids Leary used Make Up For Ever Metal Powder in Sunflower Gold 1 and carried it down to the bottom lash line too. Rose gold glitter applied with a brush to inner the corners of the eyes glammed up the look. The top fashion houses showed sparkle on the eyes and not much else. We added a little more definition by smudging black gel eyeliner right at lash line to make the lashes appear thicker. A few coats of Lancôme Définicils Mascara completed the eyes.
Pop the Lips
Bright pink lips brought the glitterati glam look home. To achieve a mesmerizing magenta pout, Leary first lined the lips with a creamy lip liner. Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil in Fuschia 16C was used here, but we also love the rich pigments of Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Anarchy. Once lined, Leary chose L’Oréal Colour Riche Lipcolour in Pink Flamingo for a final punch of pink.
