Got Winter Blues? Brighten Up With These Green Eye Shadow Looks Straight Out of Spring

Makeup.com can’t make spring come any sooner than it’s scheduled to arrive (we all know that’s the groundhog’s job), but wearing bright shades typically reserved for the vernal season — like green eye shadow — can cure a bout of the winter blahs, stat.

Here's how to get that spring feeling now, at least on your eyelids!

Find the Right Green

Celebrity makeup artist Gabriel Almodovar uses eye color as his guide. Bright greens work on brown eyes, while earthy tones balance intense blues. Deep greens are a good fit for hazel or green eyes.

Make It Wearable

Pulling off a great green is all about anchoring it with another shadow or liner, says Almodovar. Here are a few great combos:

1. Bright green along the lash line with brown shadow in the crease. Try L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Golden Sage and Lancôme Color Design Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Smooth Hold in Smothering Cocoa.

2. Earthy green from lash line to crease with black liner smudged into lash line. Try Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Loose Powder Shadow in Forest Fatale and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils in Perversion.

3. Apply deep green on outer corner of lid with champagne shadow from inner corner to mid-lid. Try YSL Beauty Ombre Solo in Velvet Green and Giorgio Armani Beauty Eyes to Kill Solo No. 10.
