Real Guy Gift Guide: Must-Have Grooming Products

Here’s the thing about buying gifts for guys—they never know what they want and when asked, usually give us a not-so-helpful “I don’t need anything.” At Makeup.com, we know how to find the perfect beauty product for any girl, for any occasion—but even we’ll admit it: dudes aren’t the easiest people to shop for. Not to be defeated, we asked the important fellas in our lives to shed some light on their must-have grooming products and let us in on some man “beauty” tips. So if you’re still one Father’s Day (or birthday/anniversary/anytime) gift short, go ahead and grab one of these man-approved picks.

Kiehl’s Ultimate Man Body Scrub Soap: I've been using this soap ever since I received it as at a "white elephant" gift exchange a few years ago.  Turns out, it was the best present. It smells great, has a nice rough "scrub" to it and lasts a surprisingly long time. Plus, I'm a sucker for the name.

REN Clarifying Clay Cleanser: I'm a yogi so I exercise and sweat quite a bit, which sometimes takes a serious toll on my skin. Ever since I started using this cleanser, my complexion has been clearer than ever. It's all natural, smells great, and most importantly, keeps my temperamental skin under control. I love it!
Justin W.—yoga instructor
Redken Dishevel Fiber Cream: “I’m an active guy and don’t have a lot of time to spend on my hair. I like a natural look that can hold up through either a long day at work or an afternoon on the golf course. Redken Dishevel gives just enough hold without the weight and greasy texture of hair gel.
Evan—financial analyst
Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Hydra Pure Firming Serum: I'm one of those guys that never paid to attention to my skincare but luckily my girlfriend watches out for me. She told me it’s better to prevent wrinkles from forming than waking up with them one day, so I started stealing this product from her. I use it after I wash my face. It takes 2 seconds and I’m done. I love that its fragrance free so there's no evidence I've been using anything, except that my skin really does look smoother.
Kyle—chemical engineer
La-Roche Posay Anthelios 30 Ultra Light Sunscreen Lotion Spray: I grew up on the Mediterranean shores, in one of the sunniest city in France. Even back then, my mum was a freak about sunscreen, and taught me very early that protection is the key to beautiful and healthy skin. I love this product because it's absorbs quickly and leaves a clean, silky texture.

Every Man Jack Face Scrub—I came across this brand a while back when reading one of the men's magazines and to this day, I use the face scrub religiously. I'm always in the field shooting and dealing with sweat building up in my pores. It's great to have the scrub to relieve my skin of all that grime and stress.

Ojon Dry Reovery Hydrating Smoothing Cream: I am a pretty low-maintenance guy, and when I find a product that works I tend to stick with it. My girlfriend introduced me to this styling cream and now I use it every day. She tells me there are some good oils in it but my hair never feels greasy. It keeps my style in place so I don’t have to think about it, but most of all, I love that it makes my hair soft and looking natural."
David—master plumber
John Varvatos by John Varvatos Cologne: I love that this is a really lush, low impact scent. Ultimately I wear it because I love the way it smells, but also because it's made up of great components (tamarind, coriander, sage) that play into the food that I cook, so I think it appeals to me on that level as well.
