How to Get the "Wet Hair" Look

"It's all about natural beauty, with a twist," explains Redken's Creative Consultant Guido on Spring 2012's hairstyle trends.  The "water babies" look is one such style, but it isn’t all about a simple slick back. This 'do demands texture—and lots of it. Here's how to recreate the wet-shine look from the Ports 1961 spring runway show at home.
What you need: How to do it:
  • Step 1. Get your hair nice and wet and then evenly apply Redken Satinwear 02 Ultimate Blow-dry Lotion.
  • Step 2. Blow dry the hair to pin-straight status (think Ali McGraw as you're doing this), and smooth the hair back with a paddle brush.
  • Step 3. Now comes the part where you get that "two-tone" texture that will take this natural look to a new level of edginess. Apply Redken Hardwear 16 Super-strong Sculpting Gel at the roots, and comb your hair straight back. This will make your hair look "wet on top and dry towards the ends."
  • Step 4. Next, gather the hair at the nape of your neck. Find your favorite, classy barrette and secure.
  • Step 5. To hold your 'do in place, spray with Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray.
