How to Wake Up With Perfect Skin, Always

Here at MDC, we would love to think that we have all the answers for you. However, there are certain issues that require the insight of a pro. Today we asked skincare guru Stacy Cox to help us answer a very important question: How can we wake up with perfect skin EVERY day? Take it away, Stacy!

How to Wake Up With Perfect Skin

The mantra that I live by (and constantly repeat to my clients) is: "Apathy gets you wrinkles!" To keep your skin in good shape, you gotta put in the work. And the best work is often done while you sleep... or right before. Check out my tips on how to wake up looking fabulous EVERY morning.

The simple art of consistency is the best secret to never looking your age. I once read an interview with a popular soap opera star (with ageless skin) who said her anti-aging plan of attack was to be consistent with her morning and evening beauty routines. She also said she supplemented the occasional professional facial treatment and procedure so she would never have to get a facelift. Smart cookie.

Have a “Plan B”
It’s good to have a backup plan when it comes to your nighttime routine. We all have those late nights where the last thing you want to do is wash your face and put on a face mask. Something is always better than nothing, so if the temptation to skip washing your face and applying eye cream overcomes you, shift gears a little. Mobilize your “Plan B”! By this we mean utilizing that nightstand. Have a little basket on top or under your nightstand that includes facial wipes, your favorite toner and a facial serum that you can turn to when you're about to drift off to Dreamland. The serum can also serve as the occasional substitute for eye cream.

Overnight Masks
Another thing that will prove beneficial to your skin is adding a sleeping mask to the equation once or twice a week to give your face a little extra dose of concentrated hydration. Sleeping masks have become quite trendy over the last year and many brands have jumped on the bandwagon.

Get Some Sleep … Duh.
The last thing to consider is a no-brainer: Get some sleep! Seriously reflect on your life and schedule and think about how many hours your body truly needs to feel energized. Some of us need six solid hours to look bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, while others need seven or eight. I urge you to be good to yourself and give yourself some much-needed beauty rest. You're probably not missing anything too earth-shattering if you miss that late-night talk show.
