Tuesday Tutorial: The Inverse Smoky Eye

A clean, soft lid with a smoked-out look on the lower lash line? That’s right! If you’re looking for a sultry yet subtle twist on the stunning smoky eye, look no further than this inverse smoky eye tutorial. We don’t mean to turn your world upside down — just your smoky eye! Makeup guru Emma Willis of Contour Fossa shows us how to master the look.

Step 1:
Apply an eye shadow primer to the top eyelid, and then dust with loose powder to set.

Step 2: Apply L’Oréal Silkissime Eyeliner in Charcoal to the lower lash line, then add Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Mushroom. Blend the two eyeliners together with a smudge brush. Quick tip: When blending eyeliner, use your ring finger to soften any lines.

Step 3: Apply a smudge-proof black eyeliner, like Em Waterliner in Black Night, to the waterline of both the top and bottom lids.

Step 4: Use an eye shadow blender brush to work a soft, warm shadow into the crease of the top lid and a lighter shadow to line the brow bone.
